Stressed out in Stressa.

I am not normally superstitious but we did travel on the 13th.

When checking in at the airport we were informed that there was a 55 minute delay. Not really a problem but the delay grew and we finally took off 2 hours late. Blame Paris Air Traffic control. On arrival at Milan airport we went to the carrousel to collect our cases. One came off quite quickly and we waited for our second case. We waited and waited until only Jean and I were left. Still no sign of our case and then the carrousel stopped. Panic stations, what do we do?

I approached an airport employee and tried to explain the situation. He told me to wait and he would investigate. 20 minutes later he came back with our case. It had “fallen off the conveyor” Finally reunited with our luggage we headed for the exit. Would our tour rep still be waiting for us? Yes he was and was just about to put out a call. He thought we may be lost in the airport.

Soon we were on our way and on the long journey to Stressa on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Oh the joys of travel. We were stressed out.

Once in our room at our hotel we did not stop to unpack. It was straight out for a long cool drink. After a large glass of Beer I began to feel better.

A refreshing drink

Later that evening after an excellent four course meal and a bottle of white wine we both felt good. The stress had all gone.

Let the holiday begin. Tomorrow we are out to explore.

About crosbyman66

My aim is to create a photo diary of my walks and my travels. I have two main hobbies, walking and photography and these complement each other. I am a senior citizen, what used to be called an old age pensioner, but I don't feel old. Since retirement I have had more time to pursue my hobbies and the opportunity to travel more. My philosophy now is - Do what you can, while you can. My other interests are fine wines and keeping fit. These may not complement each other but keep me happy.

You have our sympathy regarding the stress of air travel. We too endured substantial delays on both flights to and from Germany last week. And we have twice lost cases in the past.
Love your ‘refreshing’ photo.Thank the Lord for alcohol. Enjoy the holiday.
