A stroll round Schwarzsee.

After a day in the mountains we fancied an easy stroll so we set off for Schwarzsee, a beautiful lake just a couple of kilometres to the west of Kitzbuhel along the Brixental Road.

The walk along the road from Kitzbuhel was easy as there was a cycle way/ footpath so we did not have to worry about traffic. Once at the lake it was 11 o’clock, time for coffee in one of the restaurants at the lake side where we could admire the view.

We then set off on the walk around the lake. It was well signposted and the signs indicated that it should take about 50 minutes. it took us a bit longer.

The first part of the walk led us round the edge of the bathing area and then along the edges of some reed beds.

Throughout the walk there were beautiful views.

Back at the start we found a bench where we could sit and eat our lunch and enjoy the view looking across to the Kitzbuhelhorn.

There were quite a few clouds drifting by. One minute the summit of the Kitzbuhelhorn was clearly visible, the next minute it was obscured by cloud.

We plan to go up there tomorrow. On the cable car.

We strolled back to Kitzbuhel avoiding the road for part of the way. There were lots of wild flowers and butterflies. Time for more pictures.

Back at the hotel it was time for tea and cakes.

My aim is to create a photo diary of my walks and my travels. I have two main hobbies, walking and photography and these complement each other. I am a senior citizen, what used to be called an old age pensioner, but I don't feel old. Since retirement I have had more time to pursue my hobbies and the opportunity to travel more. My philosophy now is - Do what you can, while you can. My other interests are fine wines and keeping fit. These may not complement each other but keep me happy.
