Snow on the beach.

A. Stranger on the shore

The whole of the UK has been hit with a blizzard. Cold wind from Siberia, now called ‘ The Beast from the East’ has met a weather system coming in from the Atlantic. It has resulted in the worst snowfall for a decade. Conditions in some parts of the country have been pretty bad.

Of course we British love to talk about the weather and it has been the headlines in both the newspapers and on TV. Dire warnings have been issued. Do not travel, stay at home, wear warm clothes. How on earth did we manage in the winters of 1947 and 1963?

Here in Crosby we had just a couple of cm of snow and it did not last very long although it has been very cold. We even had snow on the beach. Too good a photo opportunity to miss.

The Iron Men were not bothered. They just continued to stare out to sea.

About crosbyman66

My aim is to create a photo diary of my walks and my travels. I have two main hobbies, walking and photography and these complement each other. I am a senior citizen, what used to be called an old age pensioner, but I don't feel old. Since retirement I have had more time to pursue my hobbies and the opportunity to travel more. My philosophy now is - Do what you can, while you can. My other interests are fine wines and keeping fit. These may not complement each other but keep me happy.

Very hot and humid Down Under. Not good walking weather. All we need is a good book and a comfortable corner. Change in the weather is on the way.

  2. Wow – love these very much.

  3. Is it possible for me to put one of these images on my FB timeline for the enjoyment of my Liverpool exile friends?

    Glad you liked the images.
Go ahead and use an image but give a link to my blog.
As you probably know there are 99 iron men sculpted by Anthony Gormley.
The installation is called Another place.

I am having to stay indoors with a good book.
The nearest I get to sunshine is a glass of Aussie Red.

Great photos Alan. Really sorry we missed seeing those scenes as we were in Conwy for a couple of days and there wasn’t much snow there.

We usually only get snow on the beach once in a decade. Now we have it twice in a week.

In Finland, we still have snow / ice.

At least you know how to cope with it. Here we get 5 cm and it is chaos.

I enjoyed looking at your images.

  10. Sartenada says:

In Oulu we had one week ago about 70 cm and no chaos.
