Keep out

Keep out

This morning I went for a stroll down by the coast and set off on my usual walk alongside the West Lancs Golf Course towards Hightown. It has been a couple of months since I last walked this stretch and they have now completed the fence along the perimeter of the course.

It has hardly affected my route but seems to have caused a lot of damage, leaving behind lots of churned up earth and it is now very muddy.

Muddy track

Of greater concern is the destruction of habitat. A section where I used to go to photograph Orchids and the rare Star of Bethlehem has been destroyed. It will no doubt recover but will I find the orchids next year?

Back on the coast.the Iron Men continue to gaze out to sea. They have now got a wind farm to stare at but I doubt if they notice.

The Iron men

A Happy New Year to all my readers.

About crosbyman66

My aim is to create a photo diary of my walks and my travels. I have two main hobbies, walking and photography and these complement each other. I am a senior citizen, what used to be called an old age pensioner, but I don't feel old. Since retirement I have had more time to pursue my hobbies and the opportunity to travel more. My philosophy now is - Do what you can, while you can. My other interests are fine wines and keeping fit. These may not complement each other but keep me happy.

Thanks Alan, let’s hope 2016 is kind to all of us. Fine weather, interesting and not too challenging walks.

Thanks Marie. I’ve just been watching a programme about the Great barrier Reef on TV whilst the rain pours down outside. Send us some of your sunshine.

    Happy New Year Alan.

Hope to see you next Sunday.

I saw the fence for the first time recently & didn’t think it was too bad although I did like to walk up that large sandhill overlooking the golf course & that is not now accessible.. I can see the fence getting slowly buried over the coming years though.

I will try and make the Eyam walk.
    See you on the coach
