Greenway del lago di Como

The Greenway del lago di Como

The Greenway del lago di Como is a leisurely and pleasant walk from Colonno to Cadenabbia di Griante to discover villas and gardens, Roman findings, wonderful examples of architecture, ancient villages and charming natural views.

We started our walk just outside Ossuccio where we could look across the lake to the island of Isola Comacina. Nearby was the beautiful Santa Maria Maddelana bell tower. We descended towards the village of Isola passing the Villa Balbiano.

We walked through the village of Campo with its narrow alleyways  and steep cobbled streets.

It was then easy walking to reach the square at Lenno. It was just 12 o’clock and we were it time to hear the very loud peel of bells from the church. We decided to end the walk here and catch the ‘little train’ back to Cadenabbia in time for lunch.

It had been a very interesting morning taking us away from the “touristy bits”. We will complete the second half of the walk later in the week.

About crosbyman66

My aim is to create a photo diary of my walks and my travels. I have two main hobbies, walking and photography and these complement each other. I am a senior citizen, what used to be called an old age pensioner, but I don't feel old. Since retirement I have had more time to pursue my hobbies and the opportunity to travel more. My philosophy now is - Do what you can, while you can. My other interests are fine wines and keeping fit. These may not complement each other but keep me happy.

    You must visit Bellagio.

I love Bellagio lots of character but Varenna gets a few extra points.
    Lake Iseo sounds wonderful.
