Each May a festival takes place in Soller to commemorate the victory of the Sollerics over the Moors in the year 1561. Various activities take place during the week leading up to the main event, the re-enactment of the battle on the beach at Porto Soller. The battle is always on the first Monday after the second Sunday in May. Locals dress up as Moors or Christians and parade through the port. It is a noisy occasion with much beer and herbas being consumed. It is almost impossible to avoid being daubed with black greasepaint and definately not advisable to wear a hat!
As usual I was in the thick of things trying to obtain photos.
